Dermal Fillers

About Dermal Fillers London

Skin Rejuvenation and Restore Volume Loss

Dermal fillers are products that are injected into the skin to fill defects from the signs of aging such as – lines, wrinkles, folds and scars. Facial rejuvenation is also achieved with dermal fillers by restoring lost skin volume, smoothing of lines and keeping your skin hydrated. Some fillers also stimulate the production of your own skin’s collagen.

There are many types of dermal fillers – short acting, semipermanent and permanent. The “new” generation of dermal fillers are either hyaloronic acid (HA) based or calcium based. The best part of all, is that the results are immediate, look natural and can last to a year with no downtime! Dr. Maria Tetelbaum offers a variety of dermal fillers in order to develop a treatment regimen to help her patients achieve their appearance goals.

The products that Dr. Tetelbaum use are safe and effective. Following your consultation, Dr. Tetelbaum will decide which product is right for you!

Frequently Asked Questions

Are dermal fillers safe?

As a dedicated family physician, Dr. Maria Tetelbaum takes pride in ensuring that all products offered at Synergy Centre are not only effective but most importantly they are safe. Hyaloronic Acid ( HA) is a natural, major component of the skin which hydrates the skin to ensure firmness and elasticity resulting in a smooth and full appearance. However with time, the quantity of HA decreases in the body leaving us with sunken cheeks and wrinkles. Calcium based fillers are also safe and clinically proven to stimulate the body’s natural collagen leaving both immediate and long lasting results.

Are the results visible and how long do the effects of dermal fillers last?

Results are immediate. To optimize the benefits of the achieved result, it is highly recommended that you follow the guidelines provided by your healthcare practitioner. Results are clinically proven and can last up to 12 months and in some cases 18 months time based on the product used. However individual results may vary.

What is involved and is it painful?

Dermal fillers are injected into the skin with a very fine needle. Discomfort is generally minimal and the dermal filler products offered at Synergy Centre contain local anaesthetic in order to improve your comfort during and following your injection. However, Dr. Tetelbaum will offer an anaesthetic cream or a local anaesthesia in order to desensitize the injected area making your treatment a pleasant experience. The entire procedure takes approximately 15-60 minutes depending on the area being treated. Using state of the art injection techniques, Dr. Tetelbaum has extensive training in various injection techniques to eliminate bruising and discomfort.

Is there any downtime?

Typically there is no downtime following dermal filler treatment. However to obtain the best optimum results of the filler we recommend taking it easy the evening of your treatment and the following day. This does not mean you cannot return to work , however specific home care instructions are discussed with you that will pertain to your specific treatment.

How much product will be required?

The amount of product is based on the individual and the area that requires treatment. Dr. Maria Tetelbaum will consult with you and provide a complete facial analysis to determine this for you.

Preparing for your Treatment - Helping you achieve your optimum result

We ask that you discontinue use 2-3 days prior of any anti-inflammatory medications such as:

  • Advil (Ibuprofen), Aspirin, Naproxen, Celebrex, Meloxicam. All these can cause bruising at the injection site.

  • Refrain from use of: Alcohol, vitamin E , St. John’s Wort and other dietary supplements including ginkgo, evening primrose oil, garlic, feverfew, ginseng, or other herbs and supplements that have anticoagulation properties.

If you have a special event or vacation approaching we strongly recommend scheduling your filler treatment at least 2 weeks in advance. On the day of your treatment, wash your face thoroughly with anti-bacterial soap and do not apply foundation or other make-up to the area being treated to avoid infections at the injection site.

After your Treatment - Home Care Instructions

Minimal downtime is one of the many benefits achieved with non-surgical skin rejuvenation.

For the first 24-48 hours following your treatment, it is recommended that you avoid strenuous excercise, excessive heat and or sun exposure, consumption of alcoholic beverages in order to help minimize temporary injection related reactions, such as redness, itching, swelling and or bruising.

Placement of cool packs on the injected areas is highly recommended for the first 24 hours to help minimize the possible swelling and/or bruising that can occur.

At Synergy Centre we will provide you with customized home care instructions and cool packs to take along home with you.

Dr. Maria Tetelbaum will require to see you 2 weeks following your treatment. Please ensure that you schedule this appointment the day of your procedure. For your convenience, the following methods for payment are available: Cash, Interac, Mastercard, Visa.
